An Ofsted Grade 1 “outstanding” Military Preparation College (MPC) that supports 16-19 year olds to prepare for civilian employment and careers in the Armed Forces is opening in Walsall.
The Walsall Military Preparation College is government funded and will provide free education and physical training to young people from the area. This is the 21st MPC to open and forms part of a wider network of colleges across England and Wales delivering an engaging ‘active learning’ curriculum that sees students focussing on physical training for half the day every day.
Having opened 3 other MPC’s in the Midlands (Birmingham, Dudley and Wolverhampton), the Walsall MPC will now open to meet the demand for places in the region and will be able to further support young people in the area to achieve and succeed in education, society and employment.
The Military Preparation College is well-established in England and Wales, the quality and success of the MPC has been well recognised - the College was won the TES award for “Training Provider of the Year 2017.”
Pete Leak, Regional Operations Manager, has worked at the College for over 11 years. He is keen for the new College in Walsall to open as it will give even more young people the opportunity to succeed. He comments:
"It is really rewarding to see the growth of the Military Preparation College in the Midlands region. There are so many young people who love learning in a practical way, the College is ideal for them. Having the opportunity to take part in fun and challenging physical training, sports and activities every day is an excellent way to develop physical and mental robustness – this is one of the College’s core values.”
The College will open its doors on Tuesday 26th September 2017. Interviews are already taking place for those young people and parents who are interested in joining the College. To book an interview now you can call 0330 111 3939 or visit https://www.mpct.co.uk/more-information/ to request more information. Interviews are held every other Friday.
Huw Lewis MBE, founder and managing director at the Military Preparation College, comments:
“We are incredibly pleased to be opening our fourth College in the Midlands region. We strongly believe that by offering our provision to local 16-19 year olds we are providing them with the best opportunity to receive a first-rate education and physical training experience that will develop them physically and mentally. The lessons young people learn at the College will last a lifetime.”
The Military Preparation College’s curriculum has been designed to develop students’ physical fitness, essential skills and self-confidence. The College operates a ‘roll on, roll off’ joining process with no set deadline by which to apply, allowing new recruits to join on a weekly basis. The average length of a learner’s stay is 27 weeks before they are ready to progress into employment or further education or training.
