"Working with MPCT through the Military Preparation School Courses programme has been of great benefit to pupils in Merthyr Tydfil.  It has offered an interesting and challenging learning pathway, whilst equipping young people with employability skills that can take them into many different careers when they finish their courses.  Expectations are high and our young people have shown that they are more than able to meet this challenge." " The MPCT gives an excellent introduction for students to army life.  Our students have successfully completed their level 2 courses and in doing so have gained an  in-depth understanding of the requisites of army life including controlled discipline and motivation. Moreover, many of our more challenging KS3 learners have been able to transfer these skills positively into the school environment." Ebbw Fawr Learning Community

"Over the last school year three pupils have attended the Engagement Course with MPCT. Our three pupils have participated fully in the activities attending this provision every Wednesday. One of our young men has started a full time course at Merthyr College studying with MPCT, the other two boys are going back to do a Level 1 Qualification.greenfield school merthyr logo

Our three pupils have grown in confidence and self-esteem, taking on new challenges and opportunities. This provision has had a huge impact on our learners and has given the good grounding in themselves and working with others.

Both young men are looking forward to starting the new course in September and achieving qualifications which will support them in the future."   Greenfield School

"Ysgol-Y-Deri is a multi-learning needs school based in Penarth with a wide base of pupils with varying needs. Last school term we took the decision to run a small class at Cardiff MPCT with the remit of the pupils gaining a qualification while learning much needed social skills. I cannot praise the staff of Cardiff MPCT in helping us exceed these goals and their pace and ability to adapt to our specific needs.

The staff themselves are highly skilled and a pleasure to work alongside with the whole experience exceeding our expectation. So much so that we have signed up a new group for the new school year. A highly recommended experience for learners with specific needs."

"Military preparation school has provided our pupils with an opportunity that could not be replicated in school. The experience has given confidence to the shy , an avenue for self expression to the vocal and a team ethos that will stay with them for life. Our students have gained the equivalence of two GCSE's which for some were the only level 2 qualifications achieved; this was largely due to the winning combination of physical and classroom based activities.

The motivation gained through the MPCT course has encouraged them to work harder in school, to have ambition and to work towards their goals. We have pupils who have progressed to the Military Preparation College and  others who have returned to the 6th form to follow level 3 courses."
